- Hi Mark;
-
- DCTV is a very handy and useful tool but it won't digitize video in real
- time. You'd need a high end video capture board to do what you want --
- something like the PAR or the flyer.
-
- To digitize video your player (in your case your camcorder) must have a
- rock solid pause function -- that is something that gives you a rock solid
- image without any jitter or flutter. DCTV needs a still image.
-
- I have, in the past, digitized a short video sequence with DCTV by stepping
- through the video segment frame by frame with my Panasonic AG 1830 deck and
- an edit controller which almost -- but not quite --gives you frame accurate
- editing.
-
- It's difficult to digitize anything more than a second or two doing it this
- way because the deck will release after 3 minutes. It takes 10 or 15
- seconds to digitise each frame, about as long to save it. And maybe another
- 15 seconds or so to step to the next frame. Do the arithmetic. It's easy to
- see that 3 minutes doesn't give you much time to play.
-
- There's an outfit out of England (Rombo ???) which makes a video digitizer.
- Whether or not it can grab a sequence, I have no idea. But it might be
- worth exploring.
-
- Hopes this helps.
